Maintenance & care plan for reverse osmosis system
Collapsible content
1. Filter replacement
- Replace reverse osmosis filters every 6-12 months, based on usage and water quality
- Use only the recommended replacement filters to ensure continued performance
2. Clean the tap and handle
- Clean the tap and handle at least monthly with mild soap and warm water
- If there’s any calcium buildup, use a mixture of vinegar and water to gently clean it off
3. System checks for leaks
- Regularly inspect the filter, tap, and all connecting parts for leaks. Tighten any loose connections as needed
- If you notice any water pooling around the tap area, check for faulty seals or connections
4. Water flow and pressure
- If the water flow from the tap is reduced, this may indicate a clogged filter or membrane that needs replacement
- Also, check the water pressure to ensure it is within the recommended range for optimal filtration
- Ensure the tap head is clean inside
5. Sanitize the system annually
- Reverse osmosis systems should be sanitized yearly to ensure the removal of bacteria and debris. This includes cleaning the tap & tank
- Use a reverse osmosis sanitizer solution and follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for cleaning
6. Check drainage and wastewater line
- Ensure the wastewater line connected to the reverse osmosis system is draining properly and that there are no blockages
- If you notice a decrease in the drainage, clear the line to prevent pressure buildup in the system
7. Proper Storage
- If you're not using the system for a while, make sure it is properly cleaned, and the tap is turned off to prevent leaks
- Store the system in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight
